I normally do quite a bit of reading (sadly I haven't read anything in
quite a while now), sometimes with two or three books on the go at a time, so I figured there
should be a section about books too.
What Do I Read
As far as genre goes, I read pretty much exclusively Science Fiction and Fantasy books.
There's an occasional book that doesn't fit into those categories that finds its way onto
my reading list, but not often. I'm a big fan of the BattleTech series, and have pretty much
all but the newest books in that series. If you want to know more about BattleTech novels,
I have (will have) a whole section devoted to them on my
BattleTech page.
The best thing about the BattleTech series is that it introduced me to the work of Michael
A. Stackpole, my favorite author by far. I was among those who were more than a little upset
when he announced that he wouldn't be working in the BattleTech univers anymore (but he's
back now!), but it did prompt me to start looking for some of his other work. He's done several
novels in the StarWars univers. He wrote most of the novels in the X-Wing series, along with
some others not in that series. Recently he's been dabbling in the Mystery genre, and I'm
still not sure if I'll read those yet. I'm currently looking for what I think is his newest
release, 'Fortress Draconis', but none of the local stores I've been to have it. If you're
interested in his complete works list, check out his website, it's in my
links section. (or it will be
soon if it's not already.)
Recently, I've started collection books from the Robotech series (I'm beginning to detect a
theme here...), and to date am only missing #8, #19, #20, and #21. Those four are proving
to be hard to find. If anyone reading this has any of those novels and doesn't want them
anymore, I'd be more than happy to take them off your hands. =)
Other series that I have something of a collection of include: Wing Commander, Gundam, Myst,
Star Gate, and Aliens (technically, those last two are my dad's but they've been living at
my house for a while now..), not to mention various other non-series novels.
For those of you who are interested, here's a list of my books.
